Based on a polular request, let us look at some of the ongoing events on MAUI across 2011.
In this post, we list some of the more popular events on Maui that happen on a regular and repetitive basis.

MAUI CULTURAL LANDS, INC. - MALAMA HONOKOWAI
9 am - 4 pm Place: Volunteers meet at Puukoli'i Train Station in Lahaina, every Saturday, at 9 a.m. (808) 572-8085. In Honokowai Valley, volunteers to restore an ancient farming archeological site. This has been ongoing, and, on Saturdays, dedicated volunteers venture deep into the realms of Honokowai for five hours of restorative work. alternativehawaii.com. Efforts include preserving cultural resources, stabilizing archeological sites and reforest the area using native Hawaiian plants. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen and insect repellent; wear a hat, protective clothing, and bring gloves if available; Be prepared to get dirty and enjoy the freindship of many others helping to restore Hawaii's cultural past.
45 TON TALKS
December-April every Tues.& Thurs.; May-November only on Tues. Time: 11:00 a.m.Place: Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale NMS, 726 South Kihei Road, Kihei. Join Sanctuary volunteers and staff for an interactive fun-filled presentation perfect for all ages. This free one hour "talk story" will highlight everything you want to know about humpback whales. ASTRONOMY TOUR OF THE STARS
Place: Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali (West Maui) Nightly Time: 8, 9 or 10 p.m. plus Fri. & Sat. at 11 p.m. A brilliant tour of the stars is given nightly on the roof for one hour. Astronomy-quality telescopes are set up for viewing pleasure by the star guide. Call: (808) 661-1234.
BAILEY HOUSE MUSEUM
Place: 2375-A Main St., Wailuku (Iao Valley) Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Closed Sundays. Offers short courses and lectures in Hawaiian history and culture throughout the year as well as other events. Excellent Hawaiian arts and crafts can be found in the Museum Gift Shop. HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK
Date: Daily Ongoing Ranger / Naturalist programs include
guided walks, hikes, as well as programs on geology and natural and cultural history and 15 to 20 minute presentations. In the Summit area, special evening star watching programs are conducted periodically. Occasionally special all day and half day hikes, three day service trips, or full moon hikes are offered. GEORGE KAHUMOKU JR'S SLACK KEY SHOW - MASTERS OF HAWAIIAN MUSIC
Every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm Place: Napili Kai Beach Resort Pavilion - 5900 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Napili HI 96761 (West Maui) This multi-Grammy Award winning show is hosted by Slack Key Master, George Kahumoku Jr, with young
Maui sensation, Da Ukulele Boyz. Since 2003, this concert series has featured the best in Hawaiian guitar, ukulele, and vocal entertainers. A different guest artist appears each week. Compilation CDs recorded live at the show have won 4 Grammies to date.
HE'UI CULTURAL ARTS FESTIVAL
Varied Weekend Schedule Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Saturday & Sunday) Place: Lahaina (under the Banyan Tree). A gathering of Hawaiian artists and crafters display, sell, and demonstrate cultural arts and crafts; live Hawaiian music is featured; and community members give talks on their culture. Free. HULA - ARTS AND CRAFTS
Place: Lahaina Cannery Mall, LahainaKeiki (children) hula every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.Polynesian dancers every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.Call: (808) 661-5304.
MAUI PANIOLO DANCE ASSOCIATION
Weekly. Place: Tavares (Pukalani) Community Center (Upcountry Maui). The Maui Paniolo Dance Association is dedicated to country dancing on Maui. They meet once a week, offering free lesson(s) at the beginning hour. Open dance is from 8-10 PM. $3 donation requested. Clean, family, atmosphere. No partner required. SEA WEES… OCEANS OF FUN FOR LITTLE ONES
Date: Every Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Place: Ocean Science Discovery Center at The Harbor Shops, Maalaea. Learn about the ocean with a Marine Education Specialist through songs, skits, crafts, and encounters with live marine animals. Fun-filled weekly discovery program for ages 3-5 and their parents or caregivers. $40 for 5 sessions or $10 for single class. Pre-registration required. Call: Pacific Whale Foundation (808) 249-8811.
SUNSET CLIFF-DIVING
Every evening Place: Sheraton Maui, Kaanapali (West Maui)
The Sheraton Maui rests beside the famous black rock, Puu Kekaa, site of many Hawaiian legends. A torchlighting and cliff diving ceremony is enacted each evening right before sunset. The public can watch a young man in ancient Hawaiian garb light torches as he runs to the rock's summit. Perched at the top, he dives off the cliff into the calm waters surrounding the landmark. WHALERS VILLAGE ENTERTAINMENT
Place: Kaanapali (West Maui) Enjoy free entertainment and activities at Whalers Village Center Stage. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, watch Polynesian dances from 6:30 to 7 pm then Tahitian dances from 7:30 to 8 pm. Take a lei-making class on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 2 pm or take a hula lesson from 3 to 4 pm on Thursdays. Sundays feature Sunset Jazz from 6 to 9 pm. Whalers Village is open from 9:30 am to 10:00 pm daily. Call: (808) 661-4567
