The best time I had on Kauai was when my daughter and I wanted to go sea kayaking. We signed up for a tour, and were the only ones who did that day. Our guide, Ivan, took us down the Hanalei River into Hanalei Bay. He decided the sea was calm and we were pretty good at the kayaking, so we followed Ivan in his kayak around the cliffs of Princeville to Hideaways Beach. It was a gorgeous bay and no one was on the beach. Lisa and I snorkeled in the crystal clear waters for at least an hour and the fish were amazing. Ivan then gave us a soda and we headed back. We felt so confident until the kayak went up on its side. I remember pushing my feet forward and straightening my legs. We didn't capsize! Ivan was amazed, but told us to get out further into the ocean and not right where the waves broke. It was a sunny and warm day, where we exercised and got to be on an isolated beach with great snorkeling. Who could ask for more?

My first snorkeling experience was in Hawaii. I had always wanted to go, but since I couldn't swim, I was always afraid. The guide assured me that I would be safe and he gave me a boogie board and a snorkel belt.. It was fabulous!!!! It was the most beautiful and serene time that I have ever had in my life. I am so glad that I did not allow my fear to prevent me from enjoying this awesome adventure. I have seen been snorkeling several times in the Caribbean, but none of it compares to the beautiful ocean and marine life in Hawaii. Thanks for allowing me to share.

My favorite activity in Hawaii is snorkeling because it allows me to get out of my wheelchair and be free in the ocean with the unparalleled beauty of the aquatic life!
